We encourage you to follow Ensygloge Style Guide when setting up a paper. If you find it difficult we allow you to follow MLA, APA or Chicago-Turabian for foot notes and Bibliography. There should be consistency in the methodology. You have to specify the methodology you followed in the academic paper.

1. General Formatting Guidelines

To ensure uniformity across submissions, authors should adhere to the following formatting standards:

• Paper Size: A4
  
  

• Margins: Top 3 cm, Bottom 3 cm, Left 3 cm (3.5 cm if printing for binding), Right 3 cm
  
  

• Font: Garamond, 12 pt (Paragraphs)
  
  

• Line Spacing: 1.15 (Paragraphs), Single (Footnotes)
  
  

• Alignment: Justified (Title: Center)
  
  

• Chapter Titles: 14 pt, Bold, Center
  
  

• Subtitles: 13 pt, Bold, Left-aligned
  
  

• Paragraphs: 12 pt, Justified
  
  

• Indented Paragraphs (Direct Quote >3 sentences): 11 pt, Line spacing = 1, Margins = 5 cm left and right (including standard margins)
  
  

• Footnotes: 10 pt, Single-spaced
  
  

Note: Authors may follow MLA, APA, or Chicago-Turabian for footnotes and bibliography if preferred, provided the style is consistent and methodology is clearly stated.

2. Cover Page Guidelines

• Alignment: Centered
  
  

• Institute Name: ALL CAPS, Bold, 14 pt
  
  

• Title: ALL CAPS, Bold, 16 pt (subtitle on new line if applicable)
  
  

• About the Paper: 1 ENTER after title
  
  

• Author Name / Class / Guide / Place / Year: ALL CAPS, Bold, 13 pt, separated by 3–6 ENTERs
  
  

• Page Number: Do not include on cover page
  
  

3. Quotations

Short Quotations (<4 lines)

• Include within the paragraph with double quotation marks (“…”)
  
  

• Place footnote superscript after the closing quotation mark
  
  

Long Quotations (>4 lines or 100+ words)

• Use a separate paragraph with block indentation
  
  

• Line spacing: Single
  
  

• Font: Garamond, 12 pt
  
  

• Alignment: Justified
  
  

• Indent 5 cm from both sides (including margins)
  
  

• Do not use quotation marks unless present in the original text
  
  

• Maintain punctuation; comment on spelling errors in square brackets
  
  

• Source must be cited in a footnote
  
  

4. Footnotes

• Footnotes are required for all direct quotations and ideas derived from sources
  
  

• Insert footnotes using Ctrl + Alt + F in Word
  
  

• Books:
  Author, Title (Publisher: Place, Year) Page No.
  Example: Karl Rahner, Nature and Grace (Oxford: London, 2022) 23.
  
  

• Journal Articles:
  Author, “Title,” in Journal Name, Volume/Issue (Year) Page No.
  
  

• Subsequent Citations: Shortened to: Author, Title, Page No
  
  

5. Bibliography

• Place on a separate page after the conclusion
  
  

• Alphabetical order by surname of first author
  
  

• Separate entries for Print/Hard Copy and Online/Soft Copy
  
  

• Books: LASTNAME, Firstname, Title (Publisher: Place, Year) DOI/URL/ISBN
  
  

• Multiple authors: Use “and” (up to 3 authors); more than 3 → “et al.”
  
  

• Articles, Journals, Websites, Multimedia: Follow ESG citation format
  
  

• Line spacing: Single
  
  

• Hanging indent: Yes
  
  

6. Crediting Sources (Footnote + Bibliography)

• Footnotes: Superscript number, full citation on first use, abbreviated on subsequent use
  
  

• Bibliography: Full list of all sources cited in the paper
  
  

• Examples include:

Important Notes:

1. Invert the first author’s name in the bibliography.
   
   

2. Use “and” for multiple authors.
   
   

3. More than three authors → “et al.”
   
   

4. Prefer DOI over URL when available.
   
   

5. Scriptural references: in text or footnote; not included in bibliography.
   
   

6. Avoid citing secondary sources.
   
   

7. Provide sources accessible to readers.
   
   

8. Films: Director, Film Name (Year), Time.
